Beached Festival – the countdown….
The countdown is now on for Beached Festival! The 3000 capacity bank holiday beach party at Castlefield Basin is now only four days away and we literally can not wait!
Manchester has definitely missed D:Percussion since it ended in 2007 and Beached Festival, whilst not trying to replace it, definitely draws on it for inspiration, with the added twist of taking place on the beach.
Looking after the PR for festivals in the region and beyond has always been one of my favourite parts of the job. In the past I have led the PR for D:Percussion, Burnt to the Ground and the New Islington Festival, and also worked on Futuresonic and Camp Bestival. It’s such a brilliant feeling when the event day comes and you know that the hundreds of people having an amazing time are there, in part, because of your hard work.
We are loving working with our new friends at Scruff of the Neck, in particular Mark Lippmann, whose enthusiasm for creating an accessible platform for new music in Manchester knows no bounds.
The line up he has put together is a great mix that caters for everyone. The Beached Stage houses more established acts from around the country, including The Quangos, Little Comets and Airship, who were BBC 6 Music’s record of the week last week. The Scuff of the Neck stage is a brilliant showcase for Manchester’s unsigned talent and dance tent will be home to some of Manchester’s most popular DJ nights including Murkage and Hit & Run.
Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing The Quangos, not least because they’ve been brilliant in fitting in lots of press interviews for us to promote the festival.
